insensitivity anxiety

According to scientists, people with high anxiety are not sensitive enough.

anxiety and nervous people tend to feel hypersensitive: they are more experienced, take to heart even minor trouble, constantly worried and feel fear. However, scientists from Tel Aviv University found that anxious people are not overly sensitive and vulnerable, on the contrary, they may lack sensitivity.

Scientists examined the brain in a state of fear in people with increased anxiety in healthy people. The subjects were shown images that cause fear and anxiety.By using the electroencephalogram (EEG), they measured the electrical activity of the brain, neurons induced response seen on the image.

As a result, scientists have found that people who are prone to anxiety, responded to weaker picture than the quieter participants in the experiment. The study was published in the journal Biological Psychology.

Measurement subconscious fear

surprising that patients with high anxiety were less sensitive to small changes in the envi

ronment, the less anxious people.Perhaps this is due to the fact that alarm people reduced ability to assess potential threats, necessary for effective decision-making and management level of fear.Reduced ability to assess the threat leads to an inadequate response to minor external stimuli that cause anxiety in healthy people, and the fear.

People who do not suffer from anxiety, subconscious system works about the dangers of early warning, allowing them to prepare for unexpected changes and avoid hazards.People are under the power of constant anxiety, on the other hand, "surprised" frightening change. The danger, subconsciously noticed, valued and deliberate calm people prone to anxiety comes quite suddenly.

Research

In order to get a more accurate picture of the behavioral and neural responses to danger, the researchers examined 240 university students.Among them are allocated 10% of the most and 10% of the least anxious students to participate in the final experiment.

In the study, researchers measured behavioral responses to danger, shown in the picture. The most alarming participants reacted to frightening images faster than the more relaxed people. However, the EEG showed quite different results: in the quiet participants danger caused complex neural response that spoke of deep pulse treatment, while there was no such treatment in people prone to anxiety.

Ā«insensitiveĀ» Brain

Faced with the potential threat, relaxed people unconsciously notice the slightest changes in the environment, and only then to consciously recognize the threat. The disadvantage of such a pre-treatment in people prone to anxiety leads to a stronger reaction to the external impulse, because the threat of catches them off guard.
